RADARINDRAMAYU.ID – The Oman Football Association issued a strong statement condemning the intimidation faced by their international referee, Ahmed Al Kaf, and his assistants during the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in Asia, between Bahrain and Indonesia.

This behavior, involving threats and intimidation, is deemed unacceptable, crossing the boundaries of sportsmanship, and tarnishing the integrity of football.

In its statement, the Oman Football Association emphasized that this incident not only damages the reputation of the match but also assaults the honor of the refereeing profession.

Omani referees, including Ahmed Al Kaf, are known for their commitment to professionalism, transparency, and integrity, qualities that have made them elite referees in Asia.

This respect has long been recognized on the international stage, and this incident is a direct contradiction of those values.

As a form of support, the Oman Football Association has called on FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) to take immediate action under the applicable rules.

They are demanding protection for referees who are victims of intimidation and ensuring their physical and psychological safety.

The federation is also coordinating with relevant authorities to resolve this case and prevent similar incidents in the future.

Furthermore, the association firmly stands behind Al-Kaf and his officiating team.

They expressed pride in the performance of Omani referees, praising their competence on the field, and hoping for their continued success both internationally and continentally.

Faced with verbal or physical attacks, the association is committed to upholding the dignity and honor of referees, rejecting any form of intimidation that not only harms individuals but also the very essence of football itself.
